WOW! We have been learning SO MUCH recently! I wanted to take a moment and share THREE of the cases we’ve been learning and researching over here at Longevity. Why? Everyone has a core value, a belief that is so engrained in them they would do just about anything to uphold. Mine is that I REALLY like people to know what decision they’re making, so that they can make the decision they most want to make. So nowadays, I work relentlessly to help people see the truth of what they’re actually dealing with. Here’s an anology, which is a true story from my life.
Several members of my family, on both sides, have diabetes. I have watched their health and bodies degrade due to this. I have also watched one family member reverse this disease twice. And much later in life, I met one family member who avoided it entirely, by eating a clean and healthy diet and exercising regularly with runs or long walks. I’m very very careful about what I eat and when, because I’ve watched the negative effects of poor decisions here. The reality is, they didn’t know what decision they were making when they reached for the next bowl of ice cream.
Part of that path has led to me to training for Ironman competitions, which expend a lot of calories. I walk my talk: I use muscle testing / applied kinesiology / energy measuring as a primary diagnostic tool in clinic, and I muscle test all the food I ever eat. After I finished my first half-Ironman in 2019, I was utterly exhausted. Perhaps the best way for me to describe the level of exhaustion was to say that I couldn’t even lower my own body onto the toilet. I was completely wasted. I finished that race with 28 seconds to spare – it was a long, hard, windy, rainy, and hot day, and I hadn’t been able to train as much as I’d planned because (1) I had just moved my clinic (2) a key employee was sick for several weeks, and I was working far more than overtime to make up for it. I had left my heart and soul on the course, and in all honesty, I’d given up on finishing in time because in my exhausted nearly-blacked-out state, I had done the math wrong. I thought I had 2 more miles to go than I did, so I was just walking it out. When I realized I had a chance (thank you, random stranger with “Relentless” on your jersey and Jesus-like hair!), I gave it my absolute all. I consumed things I would never otherwise touch – Coke and Red Bull, namely. I refused to take time to use a port-o-potty, and I got inducted into the world of peeing my pants on the race course. If this sounds super-gross, it’s not as bad as it sounds, and also most long-distance triathletes and cyclists do this. I learned some valuable lessons that day, namely: (1) every SECOND counts (2) Relentless mentality really matters. Those lessons have carried over into my professional world.
As an engineer-turned-acupuncturst, I am unapologetically relentless about finding health solutions. My diagnostic techniques reveal some amazing life-mysteries to me, and I get to constantly be amazed by the miracles I get to see. I am deeply honored by those who choose to work with me, and incredibly grateful for their faith and trust. I am also inspired by their own “Relentless” spirits! Some people’s healing journeys are tougher than others, and this week I got to see an amazing turnaround in what looked like an impossible case. Here’s her story:
Nanette’s Story
How did we do it?
When Nanette first came to see us, she complained of pain in the left side of her head and ear, dizziness, exhaustion, and nausea in the morning. She felt so good she remarked after the video that she FORGOT to even MENTION the DIZZINESS being GONE!
What worked for her was:
Step 1: Regulating her blood sugar. She cleaned up her diet, and we added in two supplements that helped ber body digest carbohydrates and start rebuilding her pancreas (Standard Process’ Gymnema is the herb shown to rebuild Isle-of-Langerhans cells in the pancreas). And one more to repair the mucosal lining that contributed to leaky gut. It tastes terrible, but she was a trooper! It’s a combination of Goldenseal, Echinacea, and Chapperal.
Step 2: Stabilizing her heart. Her heart sound recorder graph showed us what nutritional deficiencies she had, and how to correct them. We used Standard Process Cataplex B Core.
Step 3. Adaptagenic herbs: Adaptagens come from plants whose primary defense mechanism is to release a toxin. This toxin makes would-be predators feel bad, so that they learn not to eat that herb. With substances as with life: a little bit of stress makes us stronger; too much kills us. Adaptagens are that little bit of stress to our body that makes us stronger over time. Oriental medicine holds the keys to the question: which adaptagen is right for me through a special technique called the Three Treasures Analaysis. One of the biggest mistakes people make is taking herbs that other people take, just because they’re popular. Turmeric is one of those: it is widely marketed, but certain people (like yours truly) are genetically incompatible with it. Both energy measuring and genetic testing show this – for me, too much turmeric is not a good thing.
Step 4: Cutsom herbal formula, that changed every couple of weeks. First, to drain damp heat, then to purge fire (which is more potent than just heat alone). Then to tonify qi and blood and strengthen her constitution. Next to clear toxic heat. Nanette took some instant teas, and she cooked up some raw herbal formulas. She was all in!
The heat inside of her was burning up the fluids, making her dizzy, exhausted, and nauseous. She was so delighted to feel so much better that she was dancing again! For someone who suffers with dizziness, this is a really big shift! And an important quality of life step. Thank you, Nanette, for sharing your amazing story of transformation! What a great start to the New Year! Congratulations, Nanette!
As I’m compiling my notes for the week, here are just a few more of the insights that we’ve gained. These are in-process real-life cases that I find fascinating.
Alzheimer’s & Leg Pain
An octagenerian with Alzheimer’s was referred to me for leg pain. The muscles in his legs would jump constantly (called fasciulations), and it was painful to stand for very long. This situation has much improved, and it has been discovered that he has spinal stensosis contributing to the pain. Like many people with Alzheimer’s, his sleep and mood were affected. I always find it interesting that engineers (includiing yours truly) have two questions that they always ask: Why did this happen, and how can I fix it in the best way possible? In this case, extensive lab tests indicate several contributing factors for Alzheimers. The scope of the extensive work done with other clinics is outside of the scope of this synopsis. However, three primary factors were identified that were not otherwise being addressed:
(1) He had extremely high levels of Ochratoxin A, a mold found in coffee that can contribute to cognitive functioning. (This is why coming off coffee can feel so cruddy – you’re dealing with mold buildup in your body. The coffee itself mitigates the symptoms, but when you come off of it, you can feel lousy as the mold is detoxing. This is often confused with caffeine withdrawal. Green tea helps, and is a natural mold mitigator.). He replaced coffee with green tea, and this level dropped back into normal range. He started on an Oriental Medicine diet to help correct the damp hot imbalance that were causing the fasciculations, and this has gone away! The pain in the leg is diminished – now we’re treating the spinal stenosis through light therapy and an Oriental Medicine trauma herbal formula.
(2) He had a few high heavy metal counts: lithium, zinc, antimony, mercury, arsenic, and lead. My additional findings identified: chromium, copper, and zinc. This is affecting the pons area of the brain. He has started on an additional detox protocol. Copper and zinc disregulation in Alzheimer’s disease is indicated in this study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30352697/. And chromium is indicated here: http://orthomolecular.org/library/jom/2005/pdf/2005-v20n02-p089.pdf. Standard Process’ Chelaco was added to his program to assist this process.
(3) There is another type of mold he has called Stachybotrus Chartarum. It affects GABA production, and the amygdala and hippocampus. Both of those areas are identified with Alzheimer’s according to this study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33602087/. A specific binding agent formulated to pull out this kind of material is necessary here. One of those is Biotoxin Binder.
This one is a journey, and I am honored and grateful to be helping, and to get to see the weekly significant improvements, which I call miracles! His wife is an integral part of his healing team, both because of her delightful prayer-warrior spirit, her easy laughter and careful and loving eye looking out for him, and her excellent attitude about implementing dietary changes. Although not unusual foods, eating the right type of food at the right time is an integral part of Oriental Medicine treatment. She choose the foods he liked out of the options available – like turnips, blackberries, and aduki beans.
Sore throat, Strep A, and Heart
This mostly remarkably healthy lady has an irregular heart sound recorder – the valves of her heart don’t look as healthy as the rest of her does.
It should look like this on all valves:
But hers looks like this:
She’s been on heart supplementing nutrients for this which improved things, but it wasn’t fully correcting, so I did a deeper dive. She has streptozymes affecting her heart. These are the extracellular products of streptocauccus bacteria – basically their waste product that her body hadn’t fully disposed of. She had strep and her heart never got over it. How does this happen? Because of a biofilm that the strep bacteria forms and hides under. Think slippery slime on rocks in a stream and you’ll be on the right track. Warning, tech speak approaching. “To form a biofilm, bacteria first adhere to a surface and then generate a polysaccharide matrix that also sequesters calcium, magnesium, iron, or whatever minerals are available”(Kresser Institute). Why didn’t anti-biotics work? There are two reasons this can happen: (1) the person is so healthy that they just experienced strep as a momentary sore throat, and didn’t know to treat it differently. (2) They don’t work very well – they’re resistant. “Due to the high tolerance of group A streptococci biofilms toward antibiotics, group A streptococci biofilms are likely to be associated with antibiotic treatment failure in patients.” In short, “The standard antibiotic medication for patients with group A streptococci infections is not sufficient to eradicate group A streptococci biofilms”(Frontier in Cellular and Infection Microbiology). Proper treatment is a special enzyme formula plus a specific type of vitamin C.
