What if an herb from a 4th-century Chinese text could save millions of lives—and did? That’s exactly what happened when Tu Youyou and her team rediscovered a Traditional Chinese Medicine remedy for malaria. The solution came not from a lab, but from an ancient book that recommended a gentler preparation method—soaking rather than boiling. That small detail led to a 100% success rate, and a Nobel Prize.

This isn’t just a great story from history—it’s proof that ancient wisdom and modern science can and should work together to make our lives better. That’s the heart of how I practice medicine, and why I keep learning.

🌱 Why This Matters for You

You deserve care that’s deeply rooted and intelligently modern. I don’t just want you to feel a little better—I want you to have lasting vitality. That means helping you make changes you can actually stick with, without adding unnecessary medications that tax your kidneys and liver over time. That’s not just a different approach—it’s a better process.

This work matters to me on a personal level. Every day in clinic, I get to witness real transformation. I’ve seen people shift from exhaustion and pain to energy and ease. I’ve seen skin clear, digestion rebalance, blood markers improve—and more importantly, people light up again. Watching clients reduce or avoid medications altogether (especially those known to have long-term effects on the liver and kidneys) makes my heart sing. I feel so fortunate to do this work.

🔍 What I’m Learning in Grad School this time around  (and Why It’s Fueling My Fire)

I recently started an additional  graduate program focused on medical research, herbology, and advanced lab testing through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine. And it’s already transforming how I serve. One of my professors is what I call a true “Herb Nerd”—he’s spent time in the wild with the plants and in the lab analyzing their compounds. That blend of field and data reminds me of my first career in Industrial Engineering.

Back then, I was a planning engineer for TXU in Dallas. I spent countless hours driving across Texas, meeting with folks who really knew the land. Their insight couldn’t be found on any corporate report—they knew when something wouldn’t work, not because of a formula, but because they walked the fields. That taught me something essential: great solutions are built in collaboration with the people actually living it.

Today, you are that person in the field. And I get to be your efficiency engineer for health—someone who listens to your world, understands what’s feasible for you, and helps build a sustainable plan that works.

💡 Bridging the Wisdom of Then and the Science of Now

This is what I love about practicing medicine in our time. We get to ask:

• What does the research say?

• What does your body say?

• What does the lineage of medicine say?

And then we listen to all three.

Whether we’re working with TCM-informed dietary shifts, personalized herbal formulas, Qigong practices from my book Your Qi Matters, or before-and-after lab results, our shared goal is transformation—not just symptom relief, but long-term vitality that you can feel.

🌿 From Kowloon Park to Your Own Backyard

Years ago, I traveled to Hong Kong and joined locals at dawn in Kowloon Park. No fancy uniforms. No choreography. Just people showing up to move and breathe with presence. That’s medicine too. That’s real nourishment.

That same simplicity is what I try to bring to every appointment, every recommendation, and every class I teach. I’m not interested in overwhelming you with protocols. I want to help you reconnect with the basics—hydration, sleep, breath, stillness, movement, joy—and use those as your foundation.

📣 Be Part of the Journey

Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey for Nourish Your Life, my upcoming book. I’m about 100 pages in and preparing to meet with a book agent. Your insights help shape it—and help me show her that this kind of medicine is not only needed, it’s wanted.
