Today I’m going to talk to you about some of the pitfalls of training, especially endurance cardio training.
One of the most common pitfalls of triathlon training – honestly, this isn’t even triathlon training. This is anybody in the south, in the summertime, this time of year is not drinking enough water and it can really sneak up on you.
Actually being dehydrated usually just feels like being tired and thinking that you need a cup of coffee and oftentimes people do have a cup of coffee when they feel like that.
By the way, coffee is a diuretic and it makes you pee. So it actually dehydrates you more and then you’re more tired and so you drink more coffee. So whether you’re an endurance cardio triathlete or whether you are average Joe just trying to get through the day, drinking water is fundamental to your physiological and your neurological brain health.
So make sure you’re drinking enough water. If you are an endurance cardio athlete, know that the Tour de France cyclists drink about 1.5 liters an hour. So be prepared for that and of course that brings us into the next topic which is electrolytes and minerals and salt, which is a mineral.
