Today I’m going to talk to you about some of the pitfalls of training, especially endurance cardio training. Another pitfall I experienced was undertraining and overtraining. Believe it or not, you can actually make both of those mistakes and here’s what that looks like.
So if you miss a workout on Tuesday and you try to catch up and add an additional workout later in the week, your body doesn’t have time to build the muscle from the workout that you were supposed to have gotten on Tuesday and then when you add in an additional workout later in the week, then you can wind up exhausted.
If you extrapolate this out over time, not just in one particular week but let’s say we bring that out to weeks and turning into months, then the athlete can become either chronically undertrained, chronically overtrained and as I said sometimes both. Overtraining is very, very, very dangerous in endurance cardio sports because you are exhausting yourself and not giving yourself enough time for rest and recovery and oftentimes the body can wind up in this wired and tired state where you know you need to sleep but you’re having trouble falling asleep and then your body isn’t recovering properly.
