This is one of the quiet complaints I hear in clinic. It’s never the first thing people report; it often doesn’t get mentioned until we’ve known each other for a while. But fear can have powerful effects on both the mental and physical health of a person.
And fear can take many forms, particularly for those navigating busy careers, parenthood, or retirement. Health anxiety, family stress, fear of losing control or independence, and concerns about the future often surface due to the compounding effects of stress on the body and mind. That’s why at RevitaLife Wellness Retreat, we offer a unique approach to overcoming fear, blending Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles with advanced modern therapies like Bemer, Cold Laser (it’s not cold!), and Terraherz wand treatments, as well as practices such as Qigong, cranial sacral therapy in water, and nourishing, healing foods.
Did you know fear is diagnostic in TCM? The Link Between Fear and Kidney Health in TCM
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fear is closely tied to the health of the Kidneys. The Kidneys are seen as the source of vital energy (or Jing), which governs both physical and emotional well-being. When the Kidneys are depleted, fear and anxiety can rise, manifesting in the form of health concerns, physical fatigue, and emotional instability.
For many high-achievers—whether executives, business owners, overextended parents, or accomplished retirees —Kidney depletion can result from long-term stress, overwork, and lack of self-care. This leads to heightened fear, particularly around health, family well-being, or maintaining independence in the face of aging or chronic stress. That sentence bears repeating, because it’s an OPPOSITE way of looking at your emotions. Stress causes kidney depletion, and one of the symptoms of kidney depletion is fear.
One example from this in my personal life is when I was in graduate school, we had tests every week, and final exams every three months. I loved living in the beautiful hill country of Austin, TX, especially because I rode my motorcycle around the beautiful, “weird” town of Austin. But when exam week came around, I suddenly did NOT love it. That week, I was afraid I would be run off the road, and all sorts of scardy-cat thoughts ran through my head! I learned to skip the motorcycle for that week. I also learned why this happened, and how to strengthen myself so that my kidneys and adrenals were stronger, and I didn’t get so scared.
How RevitaLife Helps Heal Fear and Restore Balance
At RevitaLife Wellness Retreat, we focus on restoring Kidney energy and emotional balance using a combination of traditional practices and cutting-edge wellness technologies. By addressing the root causes of fear—whether physical, emotional, or energetic—we guide participants toward deep healing and empowerment. Sometimes you really need to unplug to get the full benefit of a therapy. You’ll get that benefit, AND you’ll learn things you can use going forward!
We’ll also have some of my favorite biohacking toys on-site. These are some of the most powerful modalities I’ve found for quickly resetting and strengthening my body.
1.Bemer Therapy: The Bemer system enhances blood flow and circulation, which in TCM terms helps revitalize the Kidneys and promote overall energy flow (Qi). Improved circulation can alleviate stress and anxiety while strengthening the body’s natural healing capacities. For those dealing with health anxiety or concerns about aging, Bemer therapy supports long-term vitality and emotional calm.
2.Cold Laser Therapy: This non-invasive treatment stimulates cellular regeneration and reduces inflammation, both key to maintaining strong Kidney health. By supporting the body’s recovery process, Cold Laser Therapy helps ease fear around health decline and physical stress, allowing participants to regain a sense of control over their well-being.
3.Terraherz Wand: The Terraherz wand uses advanced frequency technology to promote healing at a cellular level, similar to how energy is balanced in TCM practices. This helps to remove blockages in the body, improving energy flow and reducing fear-based emotions that arise when energy is stagnant or depleted.
4.Cranial Sacral Therapy in Water: Conducted in the water, cranial sacral therapy gently realigns the body’s energy, helping to release stored tension and trauma. Water, often associated with the Kidneys in TCM, provides a nurturing environment for healing. This therapy is particularly effective for those dealing with family or emotional stress, as it supports deep emotional release and promotes a profound sense of safety and relaxation.
5.Qigong: As a cornerstone of Chinese medicine, Qigong combines breathwork, movement, and meditation to restore balance to the body and mind. By cultivating the body’s life force (Qi), Qigong strengthens the Kidneys and helps dissolve fear, replacing it with calm confidence. Practicing Qigong also enhances mindfulness, empowering participants to face life’s challenges with clarity and resilience.
6.Healing Foods: At RevitaLife, we provide nutrient-rich meals specifically designed to nourish Kidney health. In TCM, foods such as black beans, walnuts, and seaweed are known to support Kidney vitality, helping to build physical strength and reduce anxiety. By integrating these into daily meals, participants can restore their energy and balance emotions tied to fear.
Addressing Specific Fears: Health, Family, and Independence
For many of our guests, fear manifests as health anxiety, family stress, or fear of losing control over life circumstances. These emotions often stem from long-term stress and overwork, which deplete the body’s natural resilience.
1.Health Anxiety: Whether it’s fear of illness, aging, or declining physical abilities, health anxiety can be rooted in Kidney depletion. Through a combination of Bemer, Cold Laser, and Qigong, we help restore the body’s vitality and reduce the fear surrounding health concerns.
2.Family Anxiety: Parents often experience fear around the well-being of their children or family members. Cranial sacral therapy and Qigong offer emotional release and grounding, allowing participants to find balance between nurturing others and caring for themselves.
3.Fear of Losing Control or Independence: For retirees or business owners, the fear of losing control over life’s direction—whether through aging or unforeseen challenges—can be overwhelming. Our therapies, designed to strengthen Kidney energy, help participants regain a sense of empowerment and resilience, enabling them to approach the future with confidence and peace.

What can I rub to make it better?
Here are some of my favorite acupressure points that you can start working with today!
1. Kidney 1 (K1) – Yongquan (Bubbling Spring)
- Location: On the sole of the foot, in the depression between the second and third toes, one-third of the way down from the base of the toes.
- How it helps: This point is associated with grounding energy and is linked to the Kidneys, which are connected to fear in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Stimulating this point helps calm fear, reduce anxiety, and restore a sense of stability.
2. Pericardium 6 (P6) – Neiguan (Inner Pass)
- Location: On the inner forearm, about three finger-widths above the wrist crease, between the tendons.
- How it helps: P6 is commonly used to relieve stress, anxiety, and fear. It also helps with emotional balance and supports the heart, which can become overburdened by overwhelming feelings.
3. Conception Vessel 17 (CV17) – Shanzhong (Chest Center)
- Location: On the midline of the chest, at the level of the fourth rib.
- How it helps: This point is excellent for emotional issues, including fear and overwhelm. It helps open up the chest, relieve tension, and promote a sense of emotional release.
4. Stomach 36 (ST36) – Zusanli (Leg Three Miles)
- Location: About four finger-widths below the kneecap, along the outer edge of the shinbone.
- How it helps: Known for boosting energy and immune function, ST36 helps alleviate fatigue and overwhelm by strengthening the body’s overall resilience. It also calms anxiety and provides a sense of stability and grounding.
5. Heart 7 (HT7) – Shenmen (Spirit Gate)
- Location: On the inside of the wrist, in the crease, on the pinky side just below the wrist bone.
- How it helps: HT7 helps soothe emotional imbalances such as fear, anxiety, and overwhelm by calming the mind and stabilizing emotions. It is particularly useful for issues related to overthinking and insomnia.
6. Governing Vessel 20 (GV20) – Baihui (Hundred Meetings)
- Location: At the top of the head, in the center of the scalp.
- How it helps: GV20 helps calm the nervous system and promote relaxation, making it an effective point for dealing with fear, panic, and emotional stress. It also supports clear thinking and mental clarity, which can reduce feelings of overwhelm.
How to Stimulate These Points:
•Apply gentle, steady pressure using your fingers or thumb on each point for 1-3 minutes.
•Breathe deeply during the process to enhance relaxation.
