Dr. Cynthia Clark: Hi! I’m Dr. Cynthia Clark, Acupuncture Physician, and this is …

Dr. Denise Baker: I’m Dr. Denise Baker. I’m an Allopathic Physician and I have been trained in functional medicine and a number of other areas that we will talk about at a later date.

Dr. Cynthia Clark: We want to talk to you today about protein. We are doing a little bit of office chat right now because this is something that has been on our hearts and on our minds in the past few weeks and so we thought we thought we would invite you in to our corner while we have a bit of a chinwag.

So proteins, what role do they have in the body? I remember proteins as being integral, as part of the phospholipid bilayer.

Dr. Denise Baker: But on a general sense, it is a very important, probably the most important building-block for our health other than perhaps water. And when I’m sitting down and talking with people, I am surprised at how little they have really known about what protein does in the body and how to employ it in your everyday life. We talk about how much protein they get at the meals and with their snacks.

I sat down with one of our clients and we are in the process of reducing her diabetes through primarily her protein intake. So we look at what her diet is and what they do. But it’s important to present enough protein to your system so that you can make all of the essential critical structures, chemicals, that our bodies need. If we are not getting enough in, we are not going to be able to live our fullest.

Dr. Cynthia Clark: And every cell has protein in it, right?

Dr. Denise Baker: Every cell has protein. Multiple types of protein, multiple forms of protein, different forms of the chemistry, evolution with the process of how do we make this, how do we make that. Every cell in our body has multiple proteins.

Dr. Cynthia Clark: So as an energy measurer or applied kinesiologist, one of the things that I’ve been noticing in recent times is that people are testing for need of a lot more amino acids which is a building block or proteins. And I have had the theory that maybe our stress might be affecting our regeneration process and that we need a little bit of help in the regenerating ourselves, regenerating the proteins in the body. Does that make sense?

Dr. Denise Baker: It makes perfect sense because if you look at all of the substances that are in our environment that interfere with good cellular communication, good hormone communication, and cellular talk back and forth within the cell, between the cells, within the cells to the organ, from the organ throughout the whole body, we are not doing as good a job of presenting good healthy amino acids and their precursors to the body now, which is why we have been able to employ here both injectables and IV nutrition and good counseling with a wonderful registered dietician who can look and see what you’re doing and how do we help you for the next steps forward.

Dr. Cynthia Clark: I’m glad you addressed that because one of the problems that I see are people that need proteins but they might not digest it very well or they choose not to have animal protein for example, which is more dense in protein. So when we move to vegetable protein then we just need to make sure that we are getting it in the right quantity and that we can digest it, and the IV cocktails are a brilliant way to get those amino acids in and bypass the digestive system. So I’m really glad that you said that.

Dr. Denise Baker: The other thing that we’ve really a tremendous amount with a number of the clients but throughout the United States and the world is the effect of inflammation and how do we deal with our stress, how it interferes with cellular communication, how it is so rampant if the gut is not healthy. We do a lot of gut healing here, and that’s through food, through energy work, through nutrition and supplements as you need it.

Dr. Cynthia Clark: And that’s such an important component. So often, stress is this overriding frequency that just takes over and short circuits the blood flow to the enteric nervous system, your gut, so you could be eating the best diet in the world or even having the best IV cocktails in the world, IV cocktails are going to go much better, but at the end of the day, if you’re in a very, very stressful life situation or you have a habit of holding on to that stress, it’s going to work against you in a pretty major way. It’s going to short circuit. And that’s why we take a very holistic approach here and we provide the services both of the nutritional analysis and then also of the energetic support that might be needed to break those patterns. So I really loved our conversation today.
